The excursion will take place on the 18^th of September after registration. The excursion is a tour around the City of Göteborg visiting points of both geotechnical and historical interest. The City has major ongoing projects such as the construction of the railway tunnel West Link, the tallest building in Scandinavia Karlatornet and the construction of a peninsula in the Göta River. Göteborg also has a major challenge when it comes to adapting to the future climate change with rising sea levels. An old landslide area just outside the central parts of the city is a geotechnical historic site as the tragic disaster also was the starting point of extensive development within the field of slope stability. City tour guides and geotechnical expertise will give you a good overview of the city of Göteborg and the geotechnics within it.
