Short course - Gunilla Franzén, Geoverkstan

Eurocode
– a common tool for a safe, robust and sustainable structure
There are major changes in the second generation of Eurocode, e.g.; geotechnical reliability, inclusion of rock, geotechnical design model and different ways of verification. We will give you the Nordic perspective on their effect and also give you the possibility for a Q&A with people who have been involved in the process of developing the code.

Short course/Presentation -

Stenungsund the landslide -
presentation in both Swedish and English by Trafikverket and others.

On October 23, a major landslide occurred outside the community of Stenungsund, 50 km north of Gothenburg. The landslide covered a large area and destroyed the E6 highway, the local road Ucklumsvägen and an intermediate business area, and compressed the Norum River. In about nine months, the Swedish Transport Administration, together with Cowi and Peab, has rebuilt the E6 road with a strong focus on the work environment in an area with quick clay and varying conditions. The presentation provides a summary of the challenges, risks and success factors for the project.

Is it possible to learn Probability based design in 30 minutes?

Absolutely not!

In this short course, I will cover some parts necessary to get started.
Then you will be able to, at your convenience, follow several “miniature lectures” available on a home page you will get access to.

As a bonus, you will be able to download a few simple Excel programs, that I find very useful.

Then you will be able to gradually improve your understanding of the subject. The probability is high that you will find it interesting and even amusing to work your way through this somewhat elementary course in Probability-based design.

Hope to see you in Göteborg
